Strawberry Lake, Sands Township, Michigan

Sands Township residents are encouraged to visit and enjoy the park-like setting at Strawberry Lake.  This is a non-motorized lake, and fishing is restricted to artificial lures (no live-bait is allowed).  There is no boat launch available.

Strawberry Lake is available for picnicking, hiking, and watching wildlife.  Strawberry Lake is also listed as a designated trout lake by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.  Unfortunately, dwindling water levels over the past several years have resulted in the lake being surrounded by several feet of dark muck which can be quite treacherous.  Please be aware of the potential danger of the muck and use caution if you choose to hike, play, or fish along the shore and water’s edge.

Strawberry Lake is located south of Sands Township Office & Park Complex, and you can get access off of State Hwy. M- 553. Use the driveway to the Marquette County Fairgrounds, and before entering the gate-entrance to the Fairgrounds, turn left onto the gravel and dirt road. From State Hwy. M-553, it is approximately 9/10th of a mile. The road does follow west along the fairgrounds.   The Welcome Sign (see photo below) is at the junction of several dirt roads,  continue west to the lake.
